This is a 1950s printing of a book that was written in the 1920s. An original ad by the publisher for the book in the 1950s states:
"This big unique 364-page book deals with cars manufactured from 1913-1922 inclusive . . . 1000 photos, charts, drawings, and diagrams . . . covers in detail all phases of repair and maintenance of the early automobiles . . four - six - eight and twelve - cylinder cars, including two-cycle, air-cooled, sleeve-valve and chain-drive types.
The book covers the many types of clutches, transmissions, axles, differentials, brakes, wheels, rims, magnetos and carburetors, as well as the various ignition, electrical, and cooling systems. Among other subjects expounded are the different metals, lubricants, bearings, pistons, rings, valves, switches, springs, tires, and tools.
Included are many circuit diagrams . . road rules and customs along with early-day traffic laws of each state . . . data for horse power calculations."
